A Framework for Categorising and Applying AI Tools to Enhance the Quality and Pace of Research

Dr Eric TSUI

Associate Director, Behavioural and Knowledge Engineering (BAKE) Research Centre & Senior Project Fellow, Educational Research Centre, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

Through selective demonstrations, the speaker will present a framework for categorising AI tools to support research. With practical cases, he will also present leveraging selective AI tools to formulate strategies and decision-making at various stages of the research process. As the landscape for such AI technologies advances rapidly, the speaker will discuss ways to develop personal and collaborative strategies to safeguard and future-proof past efforts.

Biography

Dr Eric TSUI is the Associate Director of the Behaviour and Knowledge Engineering (BAKE) Research Centre and a Senior Project Fellow at the Educational Research Centre (ERC) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Between 2015 and 2023, he served as the Managing Regional Editor (Asia) of the Journal of Knowledge Management. He is a crusader of technology-enhanced learning at the University. His research interests include knowledge management technologies, blended learning, cloud services, and collaborations. He holds BSc (Hons), PhD, and MBA qualifications. Dr TSUI has received many international knowledge management and e-learning awards, including the Knowledge Management Award for Excellence 2021 and the QS Wharton Reimagine Education Gold Award (Asia) 2015. The PolyU Annual Reports have twice listed Dr TSUI as an exemplary/outstanding academic in the last eight years.
